Early stage larval rock lobster (Phyllosoma). At this
stage it is pelagic and roams freely
in the plankton in the Tasman Sea. It will
metamorphose into a small lobster at 1-2 years old. Although marketable
rock lobsters are very valuable and are considered a potential candidate
for aquaculture, the larval stages are very
difficult to rear and there has been very little success to
date.
